Veterans: Building Resilience & Connect
Equine-Assisted Learning for Veterans
Service Description
For Veterans, the transition from military life to civilian life can bring unique challenges, including adjusting to new roles, managing stress, and building trust in unfamiliar environments. Equine-assisted learning (EAL) offers a powerful, hands-on approach to fostering personal growth, emotional resilience, and connection. Horses are highly intuitive animals that respond to human emotions and behaviors in real-time. This immediate feedback helps veterans develop critical skills such as: Emotional Regulation: Horses reflect the emotions of those around them, encouraging veterans to manage stress and stay present. Teamwork and Leadership: Working with horses in group settings builds trust and enhances communication, which can be vital when reconnecting with family or integrating into civilian teams. Confidence and Self-Efficacy: Veterans gain a sense of accomplishment as they learn to guide and collaborate with horses, reinforcing their ability to overcome challenges. EAL sessions provide a safe, non-judgmental space where veterans can explore personal growth, improve their mental well-being, and rediscover a sense of purpose. This unique experience promotes healing and empowers veterans to navigate life’s complexities with resilience and confidence. NOTE: There is no riding, as all activities are on the ground. No horse experience is necessary.
